The mesh on this infuser is definitely too coarse. I've used it for more than a year now; and while it has held up super well to daily use, I've just had to get used to pretty substantial dregs left at the bottom of my tea mug. Additionally I always add the tea to it over a plate to make sure I catch everything that falls through. I give it 3 stars (and not lower), though, because despite its faults I have used it every day and appreciate a lot about it. As the description states: it's large enough for tea to expand in it, and the construction is good enough to hold up to me throwing it around the kitchen every day.

An easy way to make a mug or a very small pot of tea. This 18/8 stainless steel mesh infuser (similar to a "tea ball" except well-made and larger) is easy to use, very sturdy, and comes with a locking lid so it will never unexpectedly pop open. We do not recommend using it in a vessel of more than 16 oz. or there won't be room for the tea leaves to expand.
