The only exception is when it is necessary to share some customer information in order to process or ship your order or for customer service; for instance with the U.S. Post Office or with our secure credit card processor etc. That’s it.
Orders, Customer Contact & Information
We do retain your name, contact information, mailing address, and order history so we can resolve any order problems, let you know about opportunities that may be of particular interest to you, and to send out catalogs or special offers. If you wish to receive no contact from us except about a current or pending order, no problem-we respect that. Just tell us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Credit Card Info
When you place your order on our website, you enter your credit card information. TeaSource never has access to your personal credit card information. We use industry standard SSL encryption to ensure that your information is kept confidential. Your credit card information, after your order has been processed, is not retained.
Marketing & Promotional Activities
We may send occasional updates, tea education, and promotional offers to your email address if you make a purchase or sign-up to our newsletter. If you wish to be removed from our newsletter or excluded from our promotional or marketing notifications, just let us know at email@example.com.
We may share non-personal, non-individual statistical or demographic information in aggregate form with our marketing partners or other third parties for research purposes. In other words, we will not tell our marketing partners that you purchased a specific tea, but we may tell them how many customers purchased that tea.
We sometimes use advertising in traditional media and on the web. We may work with third party partners to provide ads or promotional offers to our customers or to those whom we think may be interested in our products. To accomplish this, third party vendors may collect anonymous (non- personally identifiable) information about your visits to our website using “cookies”. Third-party vendors may use this anonymous information with other sources of information, which may include your name, email, and mailing address for purposes of determining whether you might be interested in receiving direct mail or a catalog or special personalized offers. We may also engage in adverting or promotional activities to secure the email addresses of people whom we think may be interested in our products and services.
Contests, surveys, etc.
Occasionally we may conduct surveys, contests, and similar activities. Participation in these kinds of activities is totally voluntary; a customer must opt-in to the activity. Information garnered through these kinds of activities is used to improve the performance of our website and to improve our overall customer experience and satisfaction, and to reach more customers/visitors. No personal information gathered from such an activity would be shared with an unaffiliated outside party.
Contests always abide by a defined set of rules and parameters. These rules will vary depending on the particular contest. To view the rules for any active TeaSource contest, click here.
“Cookies” and Server Logs
We may use web server logs and "cookies" to track customer behavior on our website or to offer a more personalized customer experience. Cookies are small files which are sent to a customer’s computer or mobile device. They hold a small amount of data specific to a particular customer or particular buying trends. Cookies allow us to improve your experience using the TeaSource website. For instance, we can use the data gathered by cookies to improve how the website performs, to determine which promotional activities customers actually like, or to improve your personal experience on the TeaSource website.
If you do not wish for cookies to be placed on your computer, your web browsers allow you to block any cookies being stored on your computer or mobile device.
Server logs are the accumulated info collected, created, and stored by the server including (but not limited to) a site visitor's IP (internet protocol) address, browser type, ISP (internet service provider), dateline stamp, platform type, referring page and exit page. We use this data to look at overall traffic trends, to maintain and administer the website, and to determine broad demographic information for aggregate use; e.g. for advertising purposes, email accumulation, and overall marketing strategies etc.
None of this information that we collect in this manner may be used to determine the personal identity of any of our visitors.
In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, TeaSource does not collect information on any person under 13 years. We ask that children do not submit information to us without the consent of a parent or guardian.
While we will not rent, sell, or trade your personal information to any third party; we will cooperate fully should a situation arise where we are required by law or legal process to provide information about a customer.
