Gu Zhang Mao Jian | Green Tea
Attractive, tippy, two-tone green from 2022. Delivers a duality of bright, floral sweet characteristics up front, but finishes into a satisfying slight bitterness that’s hard not to like.
Produced by Ms. Peng Da Jie on April 18, 2022. Guzhang Mao Jian is a well-known green tea from the Wuling mountains of Guzhang county, Hunan province. “Mao jian” is a reference to the tightly rolled leaf style (as opposed to “mao feng” which is not tightly rolled). It’s a one leaf and a bud pluck from the Bi Xiang Zao cultivar, the leaf material coming from various elevations ranging from 500 feet to 3,300 feet. Guzhang is a tea town with a long history. Over 80% of those who live there are involved in the tea business.
