Temple Guardian Wulong Tea
Simple, balanced, with a sweet, minerally cup character and a full body. The perfect daily drinker.
Picked October 15th, 2020, this tea was made from the Jin Guanyin cultivar. Jin Guanyin is a hybrid cultivar of Huang Jin Gui (for aroma) and Tieguanyin (for body and flavor). This lot was produced by Mr. Guo Wan Shu in Anxi, Fujian. Mr. Guo is a protector of a temple that is over a hundred years old and represents where his ancestors come from and why they stick with tea for so many generations. The legend is their ancestor was an exiled political prisoner who was sent away to a distant island. On their journey to the island, they encountered a giant golden snake who blocked their progress. The snake told him and his guard that this is the place they should stay and the snake spit out a tea seed. It said the tea would keep them safe and in good health, so they stayed and have been living with tea ever since.
This tea is the product of an informal community supported tea program in Anxi that makes investments in tea farmers to improve quality and return better prices for the sellers.
