Clouds & Mist Supreme | Green Tea
Crisp without being astringent. Cucumber-like sweetness, and a humid/floral lingering aftertaste. A forgiving steeper, too.
This unique yunwu style tea was produced the last week of March 2022. Yunwu teas, which translates “clouds mist”, get their name from the near permanent fog at the higher elevations which strain the photosynthesis and give unique properties to these naturally shaded leaves. This tea comes from the famous Meng Ding mountain of Ya’an city in Sichuan province. It’s a first leaf only pluck from the Lao Chuan cultivar growing at approximately 3,100 feet. This tea is produced with a combination of steaming and pan-firing techniques. “Steaming” is the signature move of Japanese green tea production and its employment here is unusual, but it brings a bit of that brothy, sencha character while retaining the Chinese floral attributes. This year’s lot is outstanding for the price and highly recommended.
