This “Tai Ping Hou Kui” style tea is famous for its visual presentation alone. A gentle and unpersuadable cup of dried flowers, minerals, and melon rind. Refined and minimalist.

Produced in the first week of May 2023 in the Huangshan region of Anhui Province, Taiping Hou Kui (Peaceful Monkey Leader) is one of China’s most famous teas. The giant one bud, two leaf pick from the local “Shi Da” cultivar is pressed and dried in a flat mesh to produce its iconic look. Like most other Anhui green teas, it has an inherently soft character and lacks the astringency of other Chinese green teas.
