Daily drinker, high class raw puer. Savory salted plum aroma, a body with a pulse, and a light cup character of citrus rind, juniper, and wilderness.

 

Harvested and produced September 8, 2024 by Ms. Zhao Yu Jie in Bang Dong Village, Lincang City, Yunnan Province. It’s a one bud, two leaf pick of a local Lincang Big Leaf cultivar growing at 5,500 feet!

Ingredients: puer tea

Steeping Instructions

3 grams | 10-12 oz water | 195°F | Steep 3 min.

Traditional Steeping

6 grams | 6 oz water | 195°F | Rinse 5 sec. | Steep 30 sec.

But this while you can! I think a lot of pu erh drinkers would love this! I personally am a bigger fan of shu pu erh, but I am now also a fan of this sheng! This tea is layered and complex, be ready for a flavor ride! At first sip, there is sweet dried fruit, wet tobacco, and dried grasslands. There is a unique coating texture on the tongue that really helps to magnify the nose. A medium body, full mouthfeel, smooth texture, and I couldn't detect astringency until the 3rd infusion, and even then it was mild and complimentary to the flavors. I could go on, but I dare you to try it for yourself!

Root Word | Raw (Sheng) Puer Tea

For years I have been searching Puerh teas that I can depend on consistently from the first steep to the last. It is one thing to get many steeps, another to get many steeps which reveal a deep flavor and Qi as one goes further along the pathway. I was surprised to find how well this travels from beginning to end in just that way. For my taste, superb!

Root Word | Raw (Sheng) Puer Tea

This was my first raw puer and it was/is stellar! It had much the same mellowness and earthiness of a "cooked" puer along with some of the usual (not unpleasant) "funky" scent of fermentation, but there was a lovely floral taste too. I love floral teas of many kinds, but this is the first puer I've enjoyed with that quality. I was dubious when I purchased this tea since my favorite puer teas up until have been flavored ones. However, my hesitation was delightfully baseless! <3 Really good! Go for it! :)
