Empire Keemun | Black Tea
This is the black tea that started the Opium Wars (it was shipments of this tea over which the first cannon shots were fired). This is also the original English Breakfast tea. This tea is deep, full-bodied, and rich with just a hint of brightness. It takes milk and sugar very well, but is also wonderful as a straight black tea.
All Keemun (sometimes spelled Qimen) tea comes from Anhui Province, China. Keemun tea dates back to the mid-1800's, and was produced following techniques that were used to produce Fujian black tea for centuries. The same small leaf cultivar used to produce the famous green tea Huang Shan Mao Feng is also used to produce all Keemun tea.
