Empire Keemun | Black Tea
This is the black tea that started the Opium Wars (it was shipments of this tea over which the cannon shots were first fired). This is also the original English Breakfast tea. This tea is deep, full-bodied, and rich with just a hint of brightness. This black tea takes milk and sugar very well, but is also wonderful as a straight black tea.
All Keemun (sometimes spelled Qimen) tea comes from Anhui province, China. Keemun tea dates back to the mid-1800's, and was produced following techniques that were used to produce Fujian black tea for centuries. The same small leaf cultivar used to produce the famous green tea Huangshan Mao Feng, is used to produce all Keemun tea.
Suggested Steeping Instruction:
Use 1 heaping tsp per 8oz boiling water. Steep 3-5 min.
