Clearwater Sencha | Green Tea
Translucent yellow-green liquor and a cup that reminds one of harvesting cantaloupe and snap peas in an overgrown garden. The bitter in the aftertaste is just right, but the unusually heavy presence from start to finish really shines.
Produced in the spring of 2023 by our friends at the Otsuka Green Tea Co. It’s a middle-steam “nakamushi” sencha made from the Saemidori cultivar growing in the Miyazaki prefecture of Japan. The middle steam method brings forth a lot of presence in this year’s lot that we’re very happy with. The Saemidori cultivar was officially recognized in 1991 as a hybrid of the Asatsuyu and Yabukita cultivars.
