Customer photo review of Jujube Shou Mei | White Tea Cake

This is my first tea cake and I very seldom drink white. This tea is surprisingly fruity and flavorful. I love it so much I went back to place another order.

So good. My first shou mei cake, and it was the best tea purchase ever. So floral and delicious, reminiscent of a bai mu dan, but deeper. Love this stuff.

I change tea preferences by season, going lighter as the weather gets hotter. I bought this last summer, was into other teas and set it aside. This summer, I’m loving it! It’s my daily go-to. I’m going to buy a couple cakes to keep for the next summers.

First tea cake I have purchased but the taste is amazing. The jujube adds just enough sweatness without needed to add anything else. Well worth the price. The artwork isalso beautiful. I may order another soon just to let it age more for future use.

Excellent quality for the price!! Addictively sweet and lingering. The jujube notes come on strong in early steeps. Later steeps are on the woody side initially but fade into lingering jujube and caramel. The package art is also gorgeous and perfectly captures the feeling of walking through an orchard of jujube trees in the fall!!

Tried several white teas. Decided Im not a white tea drinker. Until now. Wow this tea is amazing. Sweet and full of flavor.

My first experience with white tea and it's fantastic! Sweet and smooth, no bitterness here no matter how hard I push the leaves. I'd go straight for boiling water as I found no downsides to brewing this tea as hot as possible. I lost track, but probably steeped this guy ten times before it quit. Easy 5/5.

Fruit forward leafy sweetness when shy of boiling. I have found boiling to be slightly too hot for this tea. I back off my temps to between 90 and 95C. Perhaps with age this will stand up better to the heat. Boiling brings out vegetal notes which may not be to everyone's tastes, but back off even just a little bit and those raw vegetal notes give way to a raisin sweetness. This stands to age very nicely.

Delicate flavor with fruit forward aftertaste. Throat feels a bit dry after drinking many steeps. I look forward to seeing how/if this tea develops as it ages further.

My first tea cake (or brick) of any kind so it's been a little bit of a learning curve to figure out how much to use but the end result is worth it, a wonderful smooth fruity flavor. You might look at the price and think it is expensive but it is actually quite a lot of tea by weight and it can be steeped multiple times so that a single heaping of tea can last you all day. A tasteful bargain!

Steeped with a 150ml gaiwan following the traditional steps. I'm always amazed at the range of white tea and this cake is no exception. I'm mostly impressed with the heavy body (for a white tea) which lends itself to many steeps and allows for the flavors to continue through several steeps. The aroma can be described as an ocean and/or musty leaves (depends on your nose) with some light hints of spice. Mouthfeel is smooth, very smooth, and the body is medium-light (though for a white tea, it's heavy). Flavors I experienced were dried jujube with hints of pepper and a lightly sweet profile. The aftertaste was a good sweet-and-savory play on my tongue and back of the throat, inviting me to the next sip. A wonderful tea to experience with a gaiwan and, as you keep steeping, these flavors play in different proportions keeping you guessing at the next pour! PS> I used the friendship gaiwan from TeaSource and it is a great set for this tea.

a very nice cake, and a great price from a reputable seller. Dried fruits like cranberry and golden raisin, leafy sweet must. boiled, it gets a little dryer than some older cakes I have, but I love the bitter lemon twist, and I'm sure it will settle nicely in a couple of years.
