Like sun tea steeped on the porch all afternoon by a grandmother who measures sweetness by intuition and time by the way light moves. It carries no overt fruit, flower, or vegetal tones, but the Camellia sinensis shines through in full presence. Not masked, not adorned, just itself. The body is smooth, the mouthfeel warm and round, and the finish gently astringent, just enough to dry the mouth softly, like a respectful parting handshake. I’ve been searching for a tea I can serve guests who want nothing more than a simple, elegant black tea without frills, bells, or whistles. This is that tea. It will appeal equally to the person looking for a familiar cuppa and to the enthusiast who appreciates nuance and grounded sophistication. 10/10 would recommend.

This cup is a slice of life. Medium-bodied with a visceral texture, the cup delivers flavors of apples and fresh shrubbery with just enough astringency to keep everything bright and spritely. Grains and unripe bananas in the finish. A truly Ceylon tea.
This peak season OP leaf grade tea was produced February 6-15, 2025 by Mr. Kirubakaran at the Loinorn Estate in the Dimbula region of Sri Lanka. It’s a two leaf and a bud pick of both cultivar and seedling plants growing at 5,200 feet.
