Customer photo review of Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this but wanted to give it a try. It definitely has a Wulong profile, I’m guessing Anxi because it’s got that TieGuan Yin flavor, but could be Dancong or Wuyi (I’m no expert). I’ve tried a lot of Fujian hong cha and this one is solid. The honey notes and minerality stand out. Low tannins, low astringency. This is a peaceful tea and I do pick up on that tobacco note mentioned in the description. Very nice. On the list of keepers for me.

One of my absolute favorite teas from TeaSource! It's one of my go-to teas every morning.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Giving 3 stars to offset some of the 5 star reviews. I think it's a pretty good tea, especially if it is on sale. What it's missing though is depth. It has a sweet, fruity, not too malty (that's a good thing here) flavor. I now mix a sprinkle of lapsang souchang, and use more tea than recommended, to "boost" the tea. I am still dialing the amount up - I am on my 3rd or 4th session and still feel the steeping needs more grams of tea. I will next try about 5 grams for 200 mL boiling water for 4 minutes, and keep going up from there until the bag is. finished :-).

A nice black tea with very light bitterness. I over steeped it on my first tasting and added milk and now I’ve been drinking it that way every morning

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Golden Buddha gives a lot for a reasonably priced tea. The aroma is warm and strong. The flavor is rich and complex with no bitterness. Brewed in the traditional method it can be steeped through most of the day. I think I’ll make some now.

Golden Buddha is another fantastic Fujian creation. We are falling in love with teas from this province. This is a great starting point, along with Summer Cabin and 2022 Red Dawn. If you like any of these, you will have to try Balloon Flower (our absolute favorite!) and Apollo. All are deliciously smooth and uplifting.

Golden Buddha is one of my favorite teas. It’s an excellent tea for morning or just because you want a good cup of tea. I mail order this tea, it’s worth it.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Golden Buddha tea is one of our favorites, it’s smooth and subtle. I always order a bag of this one in every order.

Love this tea. I couldn’t get to the store fast enough to buy some when it became available again. A tasty black tea with a touch if sweetness. No unpleasant aftertaste

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I am a big fan of Chinese black teas and this is one of my favorites. Almost a caramel like after taste. Definitely worth the price.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I found this a very smooth tea with subtle flavors. It was a little bland for my preference.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I am a bigger fan of the Yunnan and Keemun teas but this was definitely a good tasting tea.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

While I am definitely a Yunnan addict I found Golden Buddha to be a surprising welcome change of pace. Hints of tobacco leaf and a popuri of dried fruit waft from the cup while the taste is just heavy enough to excite my taste buds in a different than malty Yunnan leaf but delightful Fujian flowery leaf way.

Gentle but flavorful, Golden Buddha is in the rotation for our morning pot. Wonderful tea!

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I look forward to sipping this fragrant, flavorful tea each morning. It's delightful!

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Golden Buddha is a solid and consistently reliable black tea. For my preference, it benefits by a slightly longer steep in a small pot when I’m after a morning robust cup. It also accommodates a milder, nuanced flavor afternoon cup with shorter steeping times.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I like hardy black teas, preferably with a bit of chocolate in the nose, steeped a bit longer than recommended, no milk. This one's a little lighter and not so chocolate-y, but I love it anyway. It's very drinkable and holds up well to a second steeping. Oddly, if I don't drink my second cup fast enough and need to warm it in the microwave, it tastes even better.

Golden Buddha has wonderful aroma and flavor. On a cold snowy Chicago afternoon, it is just what is needed. The lovely color, aroma and flavor delights the senses, especially when served from a lovely English tea cup. The flavor is rather light, but totally restorative. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Happiness is have a cup in my hand and a back up bag of Golden Buddha on the shelf. I suggest you purchase 2 lbs at a time, you will not want to run out. The tea has some longer leaves and develops a milder but flavorful darker brew. It is one of those teas you can enjoy any time of the day. We typically have it for breakfast, but it is also very nice for an afternoon sip.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Amazing black tea, very aromatic and light on taste, but with the full and complex body. Highly recommended.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

This black tea I consider a blend between my black tea favorites with a hint of the green. Smooth and easy going down, takes well to lemon, I'm not a milk drinker but it might be tasty with that too. Definitely add this to your rotation.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Have ordered this Several times. And I’m never disappointed. It’s a good all-around black tea.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

If you like a slightly lighter, milder black tea then definitely try this one. I agree with the description that it is complex and fragrant. It is not sharp at all. I have ordered it by the pound and not grown tire of it yet!

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

I have ordered this tea several times because I love it. It is fine with or without milk. Have not tried it with lemon. It reminds me of Assam tea without the malty flavor. I don't get much fruit flavor from it either. It is a good all-round tea. My only complaint is that the long leaves can be difficult to get into a teabag. Small issue.

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

Despite the rave reviews I find it dull. One dimensional. Flat not bright. Reminds me Assam but with less body. With sugar it does taste a bit like sweet potatoes. Certainly no “lingering black licorice/spicy note.” Nothing spicy here. And no cardamom I can detect. Guess it’s not my cup of tea.

I sit and smell The dark Roses of fall That have long Since died And dried With care

Golden Buddha | Black Tea

This tea is comfort food. Take your time to savor it. Use a glass mug and you will see a beautiful golden rust color, and a smell like roasted vegetables at Grandma's house of old. Take a sip, let it linger, and realize that those roasted vegetables in the oven are mostly sweet potatoes, sweet and savory. Swallow and let it linger; then you realize that those sweet potatoes were seasoned with cardamom. Sit back in a recliner, if available, preferably in front of a fire, with a cat on your lap (or in my case, a cat and a 60 lb lap dog).
