You don’t have to know much to know this tea is awesome. Brown sugar in aroma, light in body, plums and roses in the cup. No astringency.

Produced April 11, 2025 by Mr. Du Yong Gang in Feng Shan Village, Feng Qing County, Yunnan Province. It’s a one bud, two leaf pick of the Mei Zhan cultivar growing at approximately 5,500 feet. Mei Zhan is originally from Fujian and is often used in oolong tea production, but it is highly versatile with a very distinct character that is well captured here.

Steeping Instructions

Western Steeping Method

Steep 4 grams of tea in 10–12 oz of 212°F (100°C) water for 4 minutes.

Traditional Steeping Method

Steep 6 grams of tea in a 150 ml gaiwan or teapot with 212°F (100°C) water for the following times.

Rinse: 10 seconds – discard (optional)
1st steep: 25 seconds
2nd steep: 20 seconds
3rd steep: 45 seconds
4th steep: 90 seconds
5th steep: 3 minutes
6th steep: 6 minutes

An absolute must buy! I typically drink roasted oolong, but after my first cup I was hooked. I'm going to buy this for as long as they carry it. Easily works as a daily cup or a special treat. I bet even non-tea drinkers would love this.

Yunnan Plum Blossom | Black Tea

I only drink black teas, and was getting a little stuck in a rut with a handful of longtime favorites. I visited the St. Anthony store and a very helpful clerk listened to my situation, and recommended this tea (and a couple others that have also turned out to be great). Plum Blossom is now in my top 3 favorites. Very appreciative of the professional recommendation and customer service of TeaSource.

I ordered several black teas that were new to me, planning to keep track of my favorites. This one is just a delight. Very smooth. Gently sweet with more interesting flavors than we usually get with black tea. I will definitely be reordering.

Yunnan Plum Blossom | Black Tea

I am just about to re-order this wonderful tea. It truly lives up to its name in taste and aroma. FWIW, I brew it at a lower temperature and for shorter time than recommended above. It's easy to over extract this tea. It is also very clean and doesn't really need a rinse. Leaves are whole with very few stems or broken pieces.

Yunnan Plum Blossom | Black Tea

I'm rather at a loss for words to describe this tea. It has a deep sweet, juicy sort of a flavor with a silky smooth feeling that makes it really pleasant to drink. It's a bit more expensive than what I would normally choose, but I will definitely be buying this tea again.
