Classic Ceylon tea that delivers on the region's signature style – strong and aromatic with a penetrating licorice/anise character layered in. Makes a great breakfast tea with milk and sugar or stands perfectly on its own.

This tea comes from the Lumbini Tea Valley in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. The tea garden was started in 1975 by Mr. Dayapala Jayawardana. It is now operated by his son Chaminda. The Lumbini Tea Valley is one of the most consistent producers of top-notch Ceylon tea.

This tea was formerly known as Lumbini FBOP.

There is nothing strong or aromatic about this tea. I more than double the recommended amount and it still tastes like my grandma's third brew from a Lipton teabag. A huge disappointment.

Little Island Ceylon | Black Tea

I consider Little Island Ceylon OK for a daily drinker. It’s a bit stodgy. It reminds me of Twining’s Irish Breakfast tea, nothing special but serviceable. This tea works well with cream and sugar.

Little Island Ceylon | Black Tea

My Scottish grandmother started having tea parties with her grandchildren before I was 5. Of course, it wasn't very strong and it was sweet - maybe lukewarm - but drinking tea became synonymous with comfort and family. As we got older she taught how to brew our own - to "hot the pot", pour the water over the tea bag or ball, how long to let it steep ... As an adult I'm a tea snob, partial to black tea, and Ceylon black tea specifically. I buy this Lumbini black tea by the pound because I know I'll go through it all. Not only is it delicious with a hint of sweetness and the perfect way to start or end a wintery day, it reminds me of Gram.

I grew up in India, and I've always been a fan of orange pekoe as well as Assam. I adore sweet tea, and chai-capable is a must. To find a tea that can hold its own against the milk of chai but be bright enough for a good glass of iced tea is the beacon of simplicity. I don't like to keep too many teas around so that it is simple enough for my kids to make their own. One black, one early grey, and so on. This one fits the bill for black in my house. I buy it by the pound and put it in a swing top jar. It is tucked in the pantry, out of the sunlight, but always at the ready.

Little Island Ceylon | Black Tea

I love looseleaf tea and have been drinking it for many years and have tried hundreds of varieties. I say that only because the number of Ceylon teas that I have liked and re-ordered number less than four or five at most. I gave this one a try based on Bill’s recommendation Which I have found to be very reputable and accurate. I have been absolutely blown away by how fantastic this tea is... hot or iced! It has a very bold, full flavored, robust tea that rivals the best Assam teas that I’ve had over the years. It is right near the top of my list of all-time favorite teas, it’s that good! I have noticed this tea gets astringent after a couple of minutes steep time so I keep my steep times to under 2 1/2 minutes and the results are so yummy I keep drinking it! I think the astringency stands out more when you ice it so I’m still not certain it’s my favorite iced tea but it’s very good! YMMV
