My review rates this tea in its own right. Not related to other teas. There are better and higher-quality teas. But, this is a solid, staple, everyday tea. I bought 1 pound as part of my order with the specific intent of using for brewing Kombucha. This tea will fair just fine for that purpose. I am currently drinking my first cup of Seafarer. I brewed it in a 16 oz mug with a medium metal tea ball. I used a large table spoon to "measure" approximately 1.5 tbsp of tea leaves. Steeping was smooth and colored the water quickly. I like a strong black tea. This was smooth and subtle. Seafarer was not harsh, bitter, or aggressive to the palate. Perhaps with over steeping it would be. It is forgiving. I let it steep for around 5 minutes, taking only small sips until I removed the tea ball. I will probably try this more ceremonially to taste the stages of brewing development. This is higher quality than what I have been getting in Tea Bags for my "staple" tea. So, I am pleased with the upgrade. It is not overly aromatic. But, it holds its own and is a calming and peaceful drink. I would recommend it for the price - though I bought it on sale. At that time, it was the lowest priced tea in the Teasource online catalog. I would buy this again. But, note that my purpose for the tea is to brew Kombucha. Which has very low requirements and gets its flavor from fermentation. Not bad and not blow your socks off amazing. I would say, to compare to other teas, you get what you pay for. I bought other teas with this order and I look forward to reviewing them as well. Edit: after steeping 4 times, the initial leaves are well spent. I would say three 16oz mugs spends the tea (maybe 2.5). Admittedly, I tested to see how much I could get out of the leaves without a refresh... The fourth steep didn't do much for me.

Ceylon Seafarer | Black Tea

A good tea. I loved it when I first tried it a few years ago. Similar to another review, in 2024 I was disappointed because it didn’t meet my high expectations. Decided to try again a couple months ago and I was pleasantly surprised that it was much better. Purchasing again.

Ceylon Seafarer | Black Tea

This is the first time I tried this tea. I loved the full body, yet mellow. A beautiful rich color as well. This would be a good late morning tea.

Ceylon Seafarer | Black Tea

I was excited to see Teasource bring back Lumbini large leaf Ceylon(now Seafarer). The dry leaf was wonderfully fragrant, similar to autumn leaves and had a classic Ceylon taste that was more mellow. This new lot, although fragrant, is seriously lacking in flavor. While purchasing this tea recently, the person behind the counter cautioned me that another customer had tried to return their tea because they were so disappointed in it. I am disappointed too. Maybe I will try again down the road...
