Processed by hand using mortar and pestle. The tropical aromatics of bananas fill the air and gently come back to down to earth with characters of nutmeg and mild cinnamon. Full-bodied, yet soft in mouthfeel. The long finish sweetens up nicely.
Only five kilograms exist and this lot is even better than the last! Produced February 18, 2026 by the R&D team at Lumbini Tea Valley. It is a scissor-cut pick of one bud and up to four leaves of first flush material from the TRI2026 cultivar growing in their biodynamic experimental tea garden. It is harvested from plants that have been pruned back and allowed to rest for seven months, allowing them to store nutrition that makes for a vital and vibrant energy in the cup. Instead of traditional rolling, the leaves are ground in a mortar and pestle to stimulate oxidation. This is a strange and alluring tea and we’re proud to support the Lumbini Tea Valley in their efforts to preserve specialty tea in Sri Lanka.
