This note is just to add my praise for this tea. On finding it was no longer available, this actually made me feel a bit down, as it was the "go to" tea in our house. Dark teas in general are apparently hard to get these days, so I would like to encourage Teasource to keep trying <3

While certainly not the best, this batch is well worth its exceptionally low price; having a well bodied flavor that lends itself well to blending with other teas.

What a treat! This Hei Cha has in the aroma of the dry leaf, ripe blueberries. The first few infusions offer tasting notes of grape candy and honey. The liquor is a honey amber color, crystal clear and beautiful. It has a medium juicy mouthfeel that evolves into a slight minerality with a medium finish. Quite a joy to drink.

This tea is wonderfully unsubtle! We Persians enjoy black tea as our daily hot beverage, but never have I had a dark tea with such a woody punch to it. The flavor profile includes cedarwood, lightly toasted hazelnuts, and grains, with a touch of sweetness that only emerges once the tea has cooled a bit. The first sip was awkward, but each one after kept pulling me back in for more. This is a great tea for a smoking session; grab your favorite maduro stick or light up some Virginia flake tobacco in your pipe, and let the euphony of flavors take you on a pleasant journey.

Very smooth, works better than coffee!

If you enjoy shou pu'er then this is definitely up your alley. It isn't identical to shou, but it's in the same neighborhood. This is definitely favoring the woody and earthy notes while not giving any bitterness or bite. Further steeps are starting to show a sweetness, but there is no sugary or chocolatey character off the bat. At this price ($15/lb) it's going to be hard to beat.

This is a very mild, soothing tea, which is indeed quite simple (and very reasonably priced), that works very well as a base for mixing your own teas. It's neutral enough not to overpower the added flowers and herbs.

Wasn't sure at first if I would like it because it's so light, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Very smooth tea, subtle sweetness and that barley comes through really well. Good afternoon tea or after dinner tea.

The flavor is not heavy like some black teas, more light in body like a green, just a tad stronger. This would be a pleasant bed time tea. Glad I bought it.
