Fujian White Peony | White Tea
A model of Fuding white tea. These attractive leaves yield a cup character of tamed woodland spice and green garden flavors. Perfectly balanced. Almost too easy to drink.
This lot was made on October 8, 2020 by Mr. Huang Hai Qiang in Fuding City, Fujian, China. “White Peony” is the English translation for “Bai Mu Dan”, which is the name given to white tea made from two leaves and a bud at picking. It was made using the Fuding Da Mao cultivar (Fuding Big Hair), one of the two main cultivars used in Fujian white tea (the other is Fuding Da Bai or “Fuding Big White”).
This tea comes from the “Youth Tea Garden” built during the period of 1968-1978. This was a time when a lot of young students would come from the cities to the rural areas for economic development. They built small reservoirs there to support tea planting (an important asset) and the garden exists to this day, surrounded by a wild eco system and enough animals to require every tea picker to wear long boots and jeans.
