2017 Shou Mei Tea Cake | White Tea

For those who want rustic and full-bodied. It’s earthy and a bit peppery with plenty of presence. A fine example of aged white.
Shou Mei requires a loose description. According to official standards, it is white tea that consists of all leaf, no bud. In practice, it is more about flush. The early spring flushes are reserved for making Silver Needles and Bai Mu Dan styles. All later flushes in the year are primarily made into Shou Mei, which may also include picking bud and not just leaf. Shou Meis tend to have the most body of white teas, especially as they age. This Shou Mei was made by Mr. Huang Hai Qiang on April 20, 2017. It consists of a 1 bud, 1-2 leaf pluck of the Fuding Da Bai cultivar (probably the most famous white tea cultivar) from Panxi town, Fuding city, Fujian province. It will continue to age well if you choose not to drink it all now.
