Snow Dragon | Green Tea
This spring tea from Fujian is the whole package. Produced in a similar way to Dragonwell, the flat, downy leaves yield a vigorously nutty, sweet, floral cup with soft astringency & texture.
The Fuding “Da Bai” (Big White) cultivar is most commonly known for its use in the famous Fujian white teas (Silver Needle, Bai Mu Dan), but in this case they used only the big fat buds from the first two weeks after spring dormancy to produce what they call “Xue Long” (“Snow Dragon” – the white fur from the leaf resembles snow and the flat appearance of the leaf resembles Dragonwell). The later material from the plant is considered too small and thin so this tea will not be made again until next year. It’s processed in a manner similar to Dragonwell (Long Jing) with long flat leaves and a distinct chestnut flavor. This particular lot was made by Ms. Yang Xue on March 23, 2020 from the Fuding region of Fujian province.
