Huang Shan Mao Feng | Green Tea
The simple and primal flavor of green tea. Light and yielding with no rough edges. Floral with just a touch of savory. Long, clean, and classy finish.
Our new lot of this classic comes from 3,300 feet up Tian Zhu Shan (Sky's backbone mountain) of Qian Shan city, (neighbor of Huang Shan city). It’s winter snow cover prevents survival of pests as the tea plants go dormant and preserve their energy for spring. Good location is necessary for good material – especially a tea celebrated for its subtle perfection. Huang Shan is the origin of the “pan-firing” technique (the basis for modern Chinese tea-making) and the Huang Shan Mao Feng style is the culmination of this evolution. Though Huang Shan Mao Feng was invented in 1875 by a merchant, Xie Yu Tai, this lot was made by Mr. Jiang Zheng Nan on March 10, 2020.
