Big Red Robe | Oolong Tea
Available in 2 ounce quantities only.
These long, dark, twisted oolong tea leaves are hand processed in very small batches by a tea producing couple in Fuding, Fujian, China. They produce an amazing baked oolong that is slightly toasty/sweet, extremely smooth, mellow, rich, complex, and silky with a lingering aftertaste. The leaves for this tea are grown in the Wuyi Mountains of northern Fujian. But the tea itself is made near Fuding, Fujian (home of Silver Needles white tea) by one of our favorite tea producers Yanmei Li.
Big Red Robe oolong tea (aka Da Hong Pao) is one of the most prized and traditional of all Chinese teas. Big Red Robe is the most famous of the Wuyi Mtn Rock oolong sub-category of teas. This tea, at one time, was reserved solely for the imperial household in Beijing.
