First, Happy Chinese New Year, to all our customers, friends, growers, and fellow tea geeks.
In honor of Chinese New Year, for one day only, we are selling all of our directly sourced Chinese teas at 50% of their regular price.
This offer is good for one day only Friday Jan. 31, 2014. It is only good on teas that we sell directly as sourced from China (as opposed to blends composed partially of Chinese teas), it is good on the web (coupon code CNY2014) and in the stores, and this offer is even good on Chinese teas prepared for you to enjoy in the store.

Second, I always get asked “Bill, what’s your favorite tea?” This is hard to answer because it changes (this morning I would say it is our new Ceylon Burning Sun: strong, Robust with a capital R, and a healthy tinge of astringency).
But “What’s my desert island tea?” That’s a different question.
If I only had one tea, on the desert island, for the rest of forever….
It would be our Grand Keemun.
From our catalog:
“This black tea from China steeps up dark, rich luxuriant, smooth, slightly sweet, toasty, with an almost cocoa-like note. It is a completely satisfying experience. Keemuns are often compared to Burgundy wines; Grand Keemun would be comparable to a really good Burgundy wine.”

And on Friday Jan. 31 you can try it (or stock up) at 50% off.
At 50% off, it’s time to try something new or special.
My apologies for using this blog to hawk a promotion. I know I said we wouldn’t use this blog to sell stuff. I assure you this will not happen often. But I was told by a few friends that if I didn’t announce this 50% deal on the blog, I was going to irritate some folks, who might miss this one day special. Rock and a hard place.
Enjoy the teas.
